The United Negros Alliance officially proclaimed Board Member Jose Benito Alonso as its candidate for vice governor of Negros Occidental  in 2025 and vowed to support the reelection bid of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Saturday,  Sept. 7.

More than 200, most of whom were councilors, also took their oaths as members of UNegA at the party’s general assembly led by its chairman Rep. Alfredo Marañon III, president Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer and secretary general Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City.

About 25 others, including Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen dela Cruz, La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalando-on and Board Member Andrew Martin Torres, also took their oaths as members of the National Unity Party before Ferrer.

Lacson, who is a member of Love Negros, thanked the UNegA members for their support and strong coalition with his group.

“I am hoping and praying that this coalition will continue up to 2028 and beyond,” Lacson said.

Lacson said he is very happy with UNegA’s choice of Alonso as their vice gubernatorial bet. It will be an honor for him to be working with Alonso, he said.

Alonso said if he is elected vice governor he promises a smooth working relationship
with the governor.

Ferrer, who is running for congressman of the 4th District, said “rest assured that our support for Governor Bong Lacson will continue with no conditions”.

Ferrer said Ricardo Presbitero is making a comeback and is running for mayor of Valladolid in 2025.

In Moises Padilla two UNegA members – incumbent Ella Garcia Yulo and Vice Mayor Adrian “Ian” Villaflor will run against each other for mayor.

Yulo said her runningmate will be her husband Felix Matias Segundo Feria Yulo.*
