Two meted life sentences for sale, possession of drugs

Three Bacolodnons were found guilty of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and two were sentenced to life imprisonment.

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Judge Raymond Joseph Javier on Friday, March 24, separately sentenced Ereneo Anlap Pranisa, alias Maymay, and Kurt Jumawan Gargalicano, alias Kurt Eric, to life imprisonment.

Pranisa was sentenced to two counts of life imprisonment for the sale and possession of shabu.

He was apprehended for the sale of .204 gram of shabu for P500 to a police poseur buyer at Rose Lawns in Barangay Bata, Bacolod, on July 2, 2022.

On his arrest 57.948 grams of shabu and an improvised tooter were recovered from him, the court was told.

Javier sentenced Pranisa to life imprisonment for the sale of shabu and to pay a fine of P500,000 and life imprisonment for possession of shabu and to pay a fine of P1 million.

He was also sentenced to six months and one day as minimum imprisonment to two years and seven months as maximum for possession drugs paraphernalia and to pay a fine of P10,000.

Gargalicano was apprehended for the sale of .156 gram of shabu for P500 to a police poseur buyer at Purok Maki-angayon, Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod, on Dec. 2, 2022. On his arrest 1.347 grams of shabu were also recovered from him.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of P500,000 for the sale of shabu, and to 12 years and eight months as minimum imprisonment to 17 years and eight months as maximum and to pay a fine of P300,000 for possession of drugs.

Javier also found Antonio Makilan Chan guilty of possession of .081 gram of shabu and sentenced him to 17 years and eight months as minimum imprisonment to 20 years as maximum, and to pay a fine of P300,000.

Chan was apprehended for possession of shabu in Purok Bagong Buhay, Barangay 30, Bacolod on Nov. 12, 2021, court records showed.

The judge ordered the immediate transfer of all three to the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

He also ordered the turnover of the seized drugs to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 for destruction.*
