Two Bacolodnons get life terms for sale of drugs

Two Bacolod residents were sentenced to life imprisonment for the illegal sale of shabu, while a mechanic was acquitted on Friday, May 21.

Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier of the Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 sentenced Joy Fernandez Tornilla and Roel Paciño Illustrisimo to life imprisonment after finding them guilty beyond reasonable doubt of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and acquitted Roy Gonzales Guzon.

Tornilla was apprehend for selling .0089 gram of shabu for P300 to a police poseur buyer at Purok Kingfisher A, Barangay 16, Bacolod, on Oct. 19, 2019 for which the judge sentenced her to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of P500,000.

On her arrest seven more sachets of shabu weighing .8119 gram, and an improvised tooter were recovered from her possession, the court was told.

She was found guilty of illegal possession of drugs and sentenced to 12 years and 8 months as minimum to 17 years and 8 months as maximum imprisonment and to pay a fine of P300,000.

Tornilla was also found guilty of possession of dangerous drugs paraphernalia and sentenced to suffer a prison term of six months and one day to two years and seven months and to pay a fine of P10,000.

The judge ordered her immediate transfer from the jail in Barangay Handumanan in Bacolod City to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City.

The judge sentenced llustrisimo, a tricycle driver, to life imprisonment and to pay a fined of P500,000 for the sale of .1988 gram of shabu to a police poseur buyer at Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, on Oct. 31, 2019.

He was also found guilty of possession .6091 gram of shabu and sentenced to 12 years and 8 months as minimum to 17 years and 8 months as maximum imprisonment and to pay a fine of P300,000.

The judge ordered the immediate transfer of llustrisimo from the Bacolod City District Jail in Barangay Singcang-Airport to the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

Meanwhile, Roy Gonzales Guzon, a mechanic, who was apprehended in Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod City, for the alleged sale and possession of illegal drugs on Oct. 19, 2019, was found not guilty and acquitted

The judge ordered his immediate release from the Bacolod City District Jail.*
