City waiting for more vaccines but 2nd dose jabs still ongoing

Bacolod City has run out of first dose COVID-19 vaccines, but second dose jabs are still ongoing, City Administrator Em Ang said Friday, May 21.

She said 29,407 Bacolod residents had been vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines as of Thursday.

The city government will resume with its first dose vaccination drive when more vaccines from the national government arrive, Ang, who is also executive director of the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center, said.

They were informed that Bacolod will receive 5,850 doses of Pfizer vaccines in June, Ang said.

AstraZeneca, Sinovac and Sputnik V vaccines have also been promised but we do not know how many doses and when they will arrive, she said.

Ang said the last of the first dose vaccines were being administered at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central and six barangays on Friday.

The second dose of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines were being administered at the SMX Convention Center Friday and will resume on Monday, she said.

About 3,000 second dose vaccines will be administered, she said.

She also said the city mobile vaccination drive will wrap up at Riverwalk and Sta. Clara subdivisions on Saturday.

Homeowners associations requests for onsite vaccination at their subdivisions, and if they have more than 300 seniors and persons with comorbidities who have registered, the mobile vaccination team goes to their area on weekends, she said.

“They have to give a master list and we check the names against those who have already registered with the city,” Ang said.

They started at Capitolville Subdivision on May 16, she said.

A lot of subdivisions have already made requests and they are scheduled subject to availability of vaccines, she said.*
