Two alleged “Akyat-Bahay” thieves were shot to death at Araneta Street in Brgy. 15, Bacolod City, early Friday morning, November 10.
Kenneth Jamandre and Nobert Belonio Aguda were found lying on the pavement soaked in blood from gunshot wounds inflicted by a gunman riding in tandem on a motorcycle, the police reported.
The two were walking home when the gunman on a motorcycle shot them several times and escaped. However, witnesses said the gunman returned to verify if the victims were dead.
Jamandre, a barangay worker, and Aguda, a streetcleaner, sustained gunshot wounds on their heads and other parts of their bodies.
Bacolod City Police Station 1 commander, Maj. Elmer Bonilla, said there are police records that the victims were involved in previous Akyat Bahay robbery incidents in Bacolod.
Bonilla said an investigation is underway to determine who killed the two. They are looking for CCTV footage of the incident to help them in their investigation, he added.
Recovered from the victims was a black bag containing a screwdriver and pliers, the police said.
The police also recovered eight empty shells of .45 caliber pistol bullets in the area.*
