Transcom near compliant with EOC requirements

Transcom Bacolod can resume operations Tuesday when the 10-day quarantine of its employees who tested negative for COVID-19 ends, Dr. Chris Sorongon, Bacolod Emergency Operations Center deputy for medical data and analysis, said today, February 7.

The EOC is waiting for the test results of the 121 Transcom Bacolod employees who were retested for COVID-19 before they can return to work, he said.

The 10-day quarantine was imposed on the rest of the onsite Transcom employees after 41 of their colleagues tested positive for COVID-19 because the EOC is leaning on the side of caution, he said.

The EO conducted another inspection of the Transcom facilities on Saturday and the firm is already near compliant, it just needs to put in additional air purifiers and exhaust fans, Sorongon said.

Close contacts of the 41 who tested positive will have to complete the 14-day quarantines before they can return to work, he added.

Sorongon said the COVID-19 safety measures put in place at Transcom will serve as a benchmark for other Business Process Outsourcing firms in Bacolod City.

We will ask them to install the same safety measures to ensure that their employees stay COVID-free, he said.

All BPOs have also been reminded to use the Bacolod Contact Tracing (BaCTrac) system to enable the EOC to identify close contacts should COCVID-19 hit any of their employees, he said.*
