Three PHO doctors, 3 others RAT positive

Three doctors and three staff at the Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office are isolating after they yielded reactive or positive results to rapid antigen tests (RAT).

The doctors who were reactive to the RAT were Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, Dr. Jessica Fama – medical specialists 3, and Dr. Rhoel Mogul of the PHO.

Fama exhibited COVID-19 symptoms on Thursday prompting the conduct of rapid antigen tests among those who had close contact with her, Tumimbang said.

Tumimbang started coughing but did not have any fever on Friday.

The PHO conducts regular surveillance antigen testing on its staff, Tumimbang said.

Tumimbang is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and has received a booster shot. Under the new Department of Health guidelines, he would only have to isolate for five days but he is extending it for two more days because he is still coughing.

He, however, was still signing important PHO documents.

Tumimbang said the PHO was continuing with its regular services to the public.*
