A Muslim leader and businessman was shot dead at the parking lot of Victorias City Hall in Barangay 4, Victorias City, Tuesday night, February 1.
Killed was Iksan Umpar, 35, of Barangay 13. He was the Muslim community president in the city.
Lt. Col. Joseph Fajardo Jr., city police chief, said the victim, along with his wife, was on board his parked Toyota Fortuner when the lone assailant appeared and shot him at close range.
The couple was about to go home after closing of their store nearby.
Umpar was rushed to a hospital but didn’t make it, while his wife, who was at the passenger seat, was unscathed.
Recovered from the scene were three empty shells of a .9mm caliber firearm.
Police are looking at his business as the motive for the killing.*
