Survey shows Robredo clear lead in Negros: Lito

“I am very confident Vice President Leni Robredo will win decisively in Negros,” former governor Rafael “Lito” Coscolluela, Robredo People’s Council (RPC) campaign manager, said Friday, April 22.

Robredo is enjoying a clear lead in the race for the presidency in Negros Occidental based on their latest survey, he said at a press conference in Bacolod City.

He said Robredo could return to Negros Occidental in early May and they have recommended she holds mini rallies in places she has not visited yet.

The recommended areas are Escalante City, Cadiz City and La Castellana, he said.

The latest Negros Occidental survey in early April shows a dramatic improvement in the rating of Robredo, and the numbers of the other presidential candidates seem to be going down correspondingly, he said.

“This is a reflection of the campaign that we have been bringing to the ground…We are very hopeful that the numbers will continue improving as we continue to engage in an intensified house-to-house, face-to face campaign,” he said.

A survey in early April conducted by a Bacolod-based research group they commissioned shows that 41 percent of the respondents in Negros Occidental said they would vote for Robredo, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. – 30 percent, Manny Pacquiao – 12 percent, Isko Moreno – 7 percent and Panfilo Lacson 4.685 percent, he said.

It was a scientific survey involving 385 respondents conducted by people from the academe, Edwin Nacionales, RPC operations manager, said.

In Bacolod City 46 percent of the respondents said they would vote for Robredo, Marcos – 30 percent, Pacquiao – 18 percent, Moreno – 3 percent and Lacson – 0 percent, Coscolluela said.

“What is significant is there is a relatively high percentage of undecided,” he said.

“In the first and second districts (of Negros Occidental) that are the Cebuano speaking areas, Pacquiao is coming out a relatively competitive third in the survey”, Coscolluela said.

Robredo also has strong support in Dumaguete City and the first district of Negros Oriental headed by Rep. Josy Sy Limkaichong, he said.

MARCOS CAMP

Former Murcia mayor Esteban “Sonny” Coscolluela, who is the Marcos spokesperson in Negros, said “coming from the Leni group you can expect a claim like that. This is a free country, in two weeks time we will find out”.

“It is crazy to expect a campaign manager to say we are behind,” he said.

ROBREDO BIRTHDAY

Robredo supporters will mark her birthday in Bacolod City on Saturday, April 23, with a mass at the Carmelite Monastery in Barangay Mandalagan at 4 p.m., to be followed by a Kakampink Fun Date at the Art District at 5 p.m., Laban Leni Negros Occidental organizers said.

At 6:30 p.m. There will be a lighting of the Paglaum Star of Hope and birthday blowout of pink treats also at the Art District, they added.*
