Mayor Alfredo Albelardo “Albee” Benitez said barangay officials who are Team Asenso allies should support their entire slate, there should be no riding on two horses.
The number of Bacolod barangay captains supporting his Team Asenso ticket for the 2025 polls is now 39 out of 61 and is still growing, Benitez said at a press conference on Monday, Nov. 11.
Benitez said he is calling on their supporters to adopt the entire Team Asenso lineup and not to support the candidates of his ally, Rep. Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod Partylist), who are not part of their team.
Benitez is running for congressman with Rep. Greg Gasataya running for mayor under the Team Asenso ticket.
However, Paduano who is supporting Benitez is backing Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran for mayor.
Benitez said he is not riding on both horses.
“I am not the type of person that will leave my teammates behind. There is no such thing as just save the king…I will sink or swim with my teammates,” he said.
He stressed the importance of being a team player.*
