An ordinance setting the third Sunday of October as the permanent schedule of the MassKara Festival highlights in Bacolod City was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on third and final reading on Wednesday, April 2, its author Councilor Em Ang said.

The change in schedule to the third weekend of October aims to ensure more stable weather conditions for the safety and comfort of festival goers and visitors, as well as the successful performance of the MassKara Festival highlights and activities, the ordinance states.

It amends City Ordinance No. 09-17-820 dated May May 24, 2017 that set the fourth Sunday of October as the permanent schedule of the MassKara Festival highlights in Bacolod.

The fourth Sunday of October has been annually marked with rain and weather disruptions, impacting the overall experience of the festival highlights, the new ordinance states.

Bacolod City shall celebrate the highlights of Masskara Festival every third Sunday of October to strengthen, promote, and expand the festival’s impact in tourism, it said.

The ordinance takes effect immediately upon approval.

It is also co-authored by councilors Jason Villarosa and Cindy Rojas.*
