Sound system donated to Bacolod City gov’t

A sound system set was donated by JC Garcia, a Fil-Am based in South San Francisco, California, and the current auditor of Rotary Club of Daly City-Colma Evening, USA, to the Bacolod City government.

The sound system is intended for the exclusive use of MassKara Festival dancers from the winning barangay should Bacolod resume the celebration of the MassKara Festival in 2021, a press release from the Bacolod City Information Office said.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, City Administrator Em Ang, Liga ng mga Barangay president Lady Gles Pallen, Executive Assistant Tere Manalili and Investment Promotions Officer Jonah Javier, received the donation at the Bacolod City Government Center, recently.

The Rotary Club of Daly City-Colma Evening hosted the Bacolod City Trade and Tourism Mission delegation to the United States in 2019.

The MassKara dance team from Bacolod City was the first group outside the US to perform at the San Francisco Filipino Cultural Center after the re-opening of the center last year, the press release said.

Leonardia, assisted by Ang and Consultant for Tourism John Orola initiated the Bacolod Trade and Tourism Mission to USA last year, to promote Bacolod City as a tourism and investment destination, among the large Fil-Am communities in the Bay Area and Southern California, it added.

Ang, Manalili, Pallen and Javier were part of the delegation that attended the Trade and Tourism Mission to San Francisco, California last year where they met and became friends with JC Garcia.

The City of Bacolod hopes to achieve a better non-COVID scenario for Bacolodnons, so we can start again the celebration of our MassKara Festival next year, the press release said.*
