The mother of Pearl Joy Galve, a 15-year-old Bacolod student who was found dead in La Carlota City, has provided the National Bureau of Investigation with information that could lead to the filing of charges against the culprits, NBI Bacolod chief Manuel Fayre Jr. said on Thursday, August 29.
Jennifer Galve told the NBI Bacolod chief on Thursday that she previously withheld information because she had received deaths threats from her live-in partner Rene John Nacis, alias Negro.
Fayre said the NBI will subpoena Nacis, who is considered the No.1 suspect in the case.
Nacis on August 21 sought refuge with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and denied involvement in the killing of Pearl Joy.
Fayre said they will gather corroborating evidence to the statements of Jennifer Galve for the filing of charges, possibly against Nacis who was a former detainee at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, and others.
Pearl Joy disappeared on July 29 and was found dead in a sugarcane field in La Carlota City on August 14.
An autopsy report released on Aug. 27 showed that she had been beaten up and could have been strangulated.
“I am very happy that the mother responded positively, and she is willing to tell all now,” Fayre said, adding “101 percent I believe in her statements”.
Fayre said with the statements of the mother hopefully they can really pin down the culprit and his accomplices.
Jennifer Galve was previously hesitant to tell all because she had received numerous threats from her live-in partner and somebody in his behalf, he added.
She was repeatedly told that she and her entire family would be killed if she reported to authorities what she knew so she was afraid for her safety, Fayre said.
He said Jennifer Galve was threatened because she told her live-in partner that she believed that he was involved in the disappearance of her daughter.
Even before the body of her daughter was found she told him that if she found out that he was involved she would report it to authorities, Fayre said.
The NBI has assured her of protection, he said.*
