The Brgy Singcang Airport Council has informed the Philippine National Police that it is willing to donate a 500-square meter lot for the permanent location of the Bacolod Police Station 8.
The lot is located beside the SM property that was once the old airport runway, at JR Torres Subdivision, Singcang Airport Barangay Captain Caesar Distrito said on Monday, May 13.
Brgy Singcang-Airport owns a 4,000-square meter property in the area where its gym is located, and will also be the future site of the barangay’s pubic market and health center, Distrito said.
The property was donated to the barangay by the Torres Family.
Distrito said he already informed Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Rep. Greg Gasataya of the donation.
He also asked Gasataya for assistance to fund the construction of the 3-story standard police station, Distrito said.
The present location of Police Station 8 is in Barangay Pahanocoy that is far from the center of its area of responsibility that covers Singcang Airport, Tangub and Pahanacoy, Distrito said.
The property where the current police station is located is also not owned by the PNP, he added.*
