Security guard shot dead in Valencia; police launch manhunt for suspects

The police  have launched a full-scale investigation following a fatal morning shooting that left a 28-year-old security guard dead in Barangay Palinpinon, Valencia, Negros Occidental on Thursday, October 15.

The shooting occurred at around 8 a.m. directly in front of a Crispy King outlet at Purok Manga, the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO)  reported Friday.

The victim, a resident of nearby Dumaguete City employed by a private security agency, was traveling westbound on a motorcycle alongside the suspects when the shooting took place.

Emergency responders transported the victim via a Rural Health Unit (RHU) ambulance to a nearby hospital, where attending physicians declared him dead.

Investigators disclosed that the two unidentified suspects were riding a white Duke motorcycle and were last seen fleeing east toward Dumaguete City immediately after the attack. The driver was reportedly wearing a gray jacket, while the passenger wore an orange T-shirt.

Police are currently eyeing a personal grudge as a potential motive behind the killing, though investigators emphasized that all possibilities remain open while inquiries continue.

The Valencia Municipal Police Station has coordinated with the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to collect forensic evidence and document the crime scene.

The police  also reviewing available closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage along the suspects’ escape route to establish the sequence of events and confirm the perpetrators’ identities.

NOrPPO assured the public that follow-up operations and continuous police investigations are actively underway to track down the fleeing suspects and deliver justice for the victim.*
