The San Carlos City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has helped in the repatriation of the remains of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Saudi Arabia.

The remains of Dennis Facundo, 47, arrived Tuesday, November 17, at So. Haguimitan, Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City, the city government reported on its Facebook page.

Erel Lim, PESO in-charge, said that this is the first case they have encountered in terms of facilitating OFWs.

Lim said the wife of Facundo, Elisa Facundo, visited their office on September 1, seeking help for the return of the remains of her husband who died of cardiac arrest in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on August 28.

They contacted Rizza Joy Moldes, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Case Officer, the Department of Foreign Affairs and OFW Federation in Bacolod City for immediate action while their office prepared the documentary requirements needed as well as help the family in preparing documents for the processing of claims, he said.

Lim also cited that Brgy. Palampas also helped by providing the vehicle that brought the remains of Facundo from the Bacolod Silay Airport to San Carlos City.

Facundo was employed in an I.T. office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for 16 years. He reportedly succumbed to cardiac arrest after playing basketball. His remains will be buried on Nov. 20, the city report said.*
