Sales at Terra Madre, organic festival P2.4M, Cadiz top grosser

The sales at the 17th Organic Farmers Festival and the 2nd Terra Madre Visayas in Bacolod City last week was P2,422,331 with Cadiz listed as the top grosser, Provincial Agriculturist Dina Genzola said on Monday, Nov. 25.

Last year sales were higher at P2.7 million.

This year‘s top grosser Cadiz City, which sold dried fish, earned P231,130 followed by Sagay City with P186,428 in sales and Manapla – P100,370.

Winners in the best booth LGU Category were 1st – Don Salvador Benedicto that won P20,000, 2nd – Talisay City that won P15,000 and 3rd – Cadiz City that won P10,000, Genzola said.

The Slow Food Booth Category winners were first – Slow Food Bago, 2nd – Sagay Slow Food Community, and 3rd – Fresh Start Organics, she said.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson thanked the organizers and participants for the success of the five-day festival that ended Saturday.

“You are the driving force behind this festival’s success, and together, we will continue to champion the cause of healthy food, sustainable livelihood, and environmental stewardship,” he said.

The governor also said the twin events not only celebrated the collaborations that have made it a resounding success but also the initiatives that are crucial in promoting sustainable agriculture for the future.
