A 21-year-old man died after he was struck by lightning while collecting seashells in Sitio Tigbe, Brgy. Old Sagay, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Police identified the victim as alias “Mak-Mak,” a resident of Barangay Rafaela Barrera in Sagay.
The incident happened at about 10 a.m. while the victim and two companions were gathering seashells in a pond, the police said.
The victim collapsed after being hit by lightning and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Family members of the victim told authorities they are seeking assistance to cover his burial expenses.*
