More than P106 million worth of government infrastructure projects were inaugurated by the Sagay City government, strengthening disaster response capabilities and bringing key national government services closer to Sagaynons, as part of the city’s 30th Charter Anniversary celebration.
The inauguration of the new Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Operation Center and the National Government Offices Building immediately followed the Charter Day program at the Sagay City Gymnasium on Thursday, June 11, a press release from Sagy City said.
Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva said the two facilities represent investments that will improve public service delivery, emergency preparedness, and government accessibility for years to come.
“As we celebrate 30 years of cityhood, we continue to invest in facilities that directly serve our people. These projects are long-term investments in safety, efficiency, and better government services for every Sagaynon,” Cueva said.
The newly completed DRRM Operation Center and Facilities with Equipment was constructed at a cost of P48.63 million and is designed to enhance the city’s disaster preparedness and emergency response operations.
Built on a 2,604-square-meter property beside the city government center, the facility features a two-storey main building, responders’ quarters, motorpool area, standby generator system, and a large open space that can be utilized as an evacuation area during emergencies.
The ground floor houses administrative offices, a CSWD room for stockpilling, counseling area, a responders’ lounge, medical office, counseling room, supply area, stockpiling of goods for evacuees, and equipment storage facilities.
The second floor includes a training center, planning and research room, conference and command center, and executive quarters.
Future upgrades under Phase II will include a large LED monitoring wall and additional command center equipment to support emergency operations.
Cueva said the facility will serve as the central hub for disaster risk reduction, emergency coordination, training, and response activities, especially during typhoons, flooding, and other calamities.

Meanwhile, the city also inaugurated the P57.81-million National Government Offices Building, a two-storey facility with a roof deck designed to improve public access to essential government services.
Located in Barangay Poblacion I, the building has a total floor area of more than 1,100 square meters and is equipped with fire protection systems, a power house, paging system, air-conditioning units, and parking facilities.
The facility will house several national government agencies including the Land Registration Authority (LRA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
Cueva said the consolidation of national government offices in one location will make services more accessible and convenient for residents.
“Instead of traveling to different places to transact with various agencies, our constituents can now access several important government services in one area. This improves efficiency and saves time and resources for our people,” he said.
The mayor added that the completion of the two facilities reflects the city’s continued commitment to building institutions that support public safety, good governance, and inclusive development.*
