Sagay has new cop chief

The new Sagay police chief vowed to ensure public safety and security for Sagaynons as he assumed the position during a ceremonial turnover at the Balay Kauswagan in Brgy. Rizal, Sagay City, recently.

PLt. Col. John Mocyat Jr. who assumed the post as Sagay police chief on July 1 replaces PLt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., a press release from Sagay City said Monday.

The turnover was led by PCol. Leo Pamittan, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office director, together with Sagay City Mayor Narciso “Narwin” Javelosa Jr.

Mocyat said he is cognizant of “the threats as we wage a war against terrorism, illegal drugs, and criminality”.

He urged the Sagay City PNP team to serve the people with utmost integrity, courage, fairness, and dedication, adding that he also expects the rights of police officers to be respected and upheld.

Mocyat has been in the military service for 22 years and became a battalion commander of the Special Action Force before becoming a police officer serving Sagay City.

During his speech, Javelosa pledged his full support as he welcomed the new chief and thanked Indiape for his service to Sagay.*
