Sagarbarrias, Degamo unite in NegOr; Villa pa, son seek reelection in Siquijor

Negros Oriental Governor Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas) is running for governor against Pryde Henry Teves (Liberal Party) in the 2025 midterm elections.

Three other independent candidates – Glendol Badon, Joemarie Jaos and Alexander Larita are also running for governor.

Running for vice governor with Sagarbarria is Siaton Mayor Friz Diaz (PFP).

Two independent candidates Jaime Reyes and Erwin Vergara are also running for vice governor.

Commission on Election data shows that those running for the three Negros Oriental congressional seats are:

FIRST DISTRICT
Emmanuel Limkaichong (PFP)
Francisco Mijares III (Liberal Party)

Emmanuel Limkaichong is the mayor of La Libertad and the nephew of Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong who is on her last term as congresswoman.

She is now running for mayor of Guihulngan City.

SECOND DISTRICT
Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Remollo (LP)
Dumaguete Vice Mayor Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria (Lakas CMD)
Jimmy Merto (Independent)
Ryan Ybañes (Independent)

THIRD DISTRICT
Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo (Lakas CMD)
Janice Teves (LP)
Col. Reynaldo Lopez (Independent)

Degamo is the widow of slain governor Roel Degamo, while Teves is the aunt of Arnolfo and Pryde Teves.

Lopez ran against Arnolfo Teves in 2022 and lost.

Also running for provincial board members are Nyrth Cristian Degamo (PFP) – 2nd District and Carlo Degamo (PFP) – 3rd District.

DUMAGUETE CITY

Meanwhile, two Sagarbarrias are also running for elective posts in Dumaguete City.

Rep. Manuel “Chiquiting” Sagarbarria (Neg. Or., 2nd District), who is a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition and on his last term as congressman, is running for mayor of Dumaguete City.

His opponents are lawyer Deo Remollo, who is the son of Mayor Remollo, and Junel Caballero (Independent).

Barangay Calindagan Kagawad Chessa Sagarbarria also filed her COC for Dumaguete City councilor.

SIQUIJOR
In Siquijor Gov. Jake Villa (PFP) is running for reelection and is being challenged by Nale Vincent Masayon (Aksyon Demokratiko).

His farther Zaldy Villa (Lakas CMD) is also running for reelection as representative of the Lone District Siquijor.

The two other candidates for representative are Johney Esong (Independent) and Mei Ling Quezon (Aksyon Demokratiko).*
