The collection of garbage in Bacolod City is expected to normalize starting Monday, November 14, with the repair of the road leading to the Felisa Sanitary Landfill in Barangay Felisa, City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III said Sunday.
Maghari said the rains brought on by Tropical Storm “Paeng” had rendered the road impassable to smaller trucks of the city’s garbage collection contractor IPM-Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC).
Repairs have been made that will enable smaller trucks to pass and a budget has been allocated for the road’s concreting, he said.
Ephraem Hechanova, assistant city engineer, said P10 million has been allocated in this year’s budget to the start the concreting of the more than a kilometer long road and the construction of a bridge. An additional P30 million has also been sought in next year’s budget for the road, he added.
Hechanova said an alternative hacienda road to the old dumpsite is also an alternative passageway to the sanitary landfill.
