La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor Mangilimutan said on Wednesday, Nov. 15, that it will be up to the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) to decide whom it will field for vice governor of Negros Occidental in the 2025 midterm elections but she is not closing her door if it is offered to her.

Mangilimutan, who is on her third and last term as mayor, has been rumored to be one of those being considered for the post.

There are a lot of people saying that she may be fielded for vice governor but she does not know if it is true or they are just joking, Mangilimutan said.

The mayor said she is not closing her door to running as vice governor if chosen by the party, but for now she is focusing on the needs of La Castellana.

Among her priorities are a sanitary landfill, hospital and college in La Castellana targeted to open next year, she said.

However, Mangilimutan said she is not closing her door to what her party may offer.

She is a Juris Doctor, teacher, served on the police force and her performance in La Castellana is proof of her capability to be vice governor, the question is whether the people will vote for her, Mangilimutan said.

Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer plans to run for representative of the 4th District of Negros Occidental in 2025.

Ferrer, who is UNegA chairman, said ideally the vice gubernatorial bet for 2025 should come from the south since Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson who is seeking reelection is from the north.*
