Returning Cadiz residents warned vs. fake documents

Mayor Salvador Escalante warned persons wanting to return to Cadiz City in Negros Occidental not to present fake documents to regain entry.

They discovered that a Cadiz resident in Zamboanga submitted a fake Philippine Red Cross COVID-19 negative test result.

The locally stranded individual has not been granted permission to return to Cadiz City because of the fake document, he said, adding that the matter is pending before the Cadiz Legal Office.

On the other hand, there appears to have just been a mistake in the forwarded documents of a Cadiz resident who returned from Turkey, who was said to have misdeclared that he was a locally stranded individual and not a returning overseas Filipino, the mayor said.

The Cadiz resident actually complied with quarantine procedures in Manila and tested negative for the virus, he said. The documents he submitted to Cadiz City stated that he arrived from Turkey, he did not misdeclare where he came from, Escalante said.

Escalante said as of February 1 Cadiz City had three active COVID-19 cases.

One of the active cases is an employee from Transcom Bacolod. The employee had been staying in Bacolod City and none of his family members in Cadiz were positive for the virus, he said.

Cadiz City has allocated P30 million for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines, he added.*
