Red Horse Beer made music history when it capped off the 2019 Pambansang Muziklaban Finals and crowned the new champions of Pinoy rock and roll.

Held online over its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/redhorsebeermuziklaban) for three consecutive Saturdays, the annual rock fest lived up to the hype and put a headbanging show.

This year’s penultimate rock battle ended on a high note as top bands from all over the country emerged to vie for the coveted crown, a press release from the company said.

For LAKAS, the hard and heavy rock category, We the Dying from Iloilo City bagged the top prize. Meanwhile, Pikaso and the Riots from Batangas took home the trophy for AKLAS, the competition’s alternative rock class. Both bands each received a P500,000 cash prize from Red Horse Beer and an additional P25,000 and other apparel from Macbeth.

Like all of the bands that made it to the 2019 Pambansang Muziklaban Finals, the two winners for each category received mentoring from Red Horse Beer evangelist bands through the “Building a Rakista” component. Through this, the finalists got rock makeovers that helped fine-tune their performances on stage and sharpen their image off of it.

We the Dying received coaching from the Red Horse evangelist band Greyhoundz, while Pikaso and the Riots got valuable pointers from Slapshock. A tribute for the late Slapshock front man Jamir Garcia was also aired after the 2019 Pambansang Muziklaban Finals awarding night which drew heartfelt sentiments from viewers and fans.

The online event also showcased performances from some of the top rock bands in the country including Chicosci, Kjwan, Mayonnaise, Razorback, and Wilabaliw.

The exhilarating online experience featured a “Virtual Slaman” where rockheads enjoyed the event in an exclusive Zoom room and hung out with other slameros. Select audiences were selected as Slameros of the Night and won Red Horse Beer merchandise and other apparel from Macbeth.

Adding a twist to the competition, rakistas voted for their favorite finalists to win the Repa’s Choice Award. Pahina and Molay, both from Metro Manila, garnered the most “beer votes” and won the award for the LAKAS and AKLAS categories respectively. Both bands took home P50,000 cash prize from Red Horse Beer.*
