Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales formally assumed leadership of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region succeeding Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño on Monday, Sept. 7,
The turnover ceremony was held at Camp Gen. Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City, where Reales officially took command of PRO-NIR and its personnel.
Reales is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1996 “Kaagapay.”
He takes over the regional police office as it continues to strengthen its organizational structure, law enforcement operations and public safety services across Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor and Bacolod City.
PRO-NIR said Reales will focus on maintaining peace and order, preventing and solving crimes, enforcing the law, addressing security threats and strengthening police visibility in communities.
He is also expected to prioritize personnel discipline, professionalism, accountability and capability development.
The leadership change comes as PRO-NIR continues to consolidate programs and systems established since the creation of the Negros Island Region police office.
Cardiño ended his tour of duty on Sept. 6 after serving as PRO-NIR regional director since May 8.
During his nearly four-month stint, PRO-NIR reported intensified operations against illegal drugs, loose firearms, wanted persons, illegal gambling and cigarette smuggling, along with the rollout of the SAFE NIR Dial 911 program.
Reales now takes over the command tasked with sustaining those gains while addressing emerging peace and order concerns across the region.
PRO-NIR said the new leadership will continue pursuing a police service focused on public safety, responsiveness and accountability.*
