Calling for a return to “back-to-basics” community policing, Police Brig. Gen. Rudecindo L. Reales officially stepped into his role as the new director of the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) during an arrival honors ceremony at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
The ceremony marked Reales’ first official engagement with the regional command following his formal assumption of office the previous day.
He was received by members of the PRO NIR Command Group, regional and personal staff, provincial and city directors, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion commander, chiefs of national support units, and personnel from across the region.
Following the honors, Reales met with officers and personnel before signing the PRO NIR guest book to formally mark the start of his tenure.
Reales then presided over a comprehensive command briefing designed to familiarize him with the regional office’s leadership structure, security threats, and overall operational landscape.
During the briefing, Reales emphasized that the fundamental duty of the police force remains the prevention and solution of crimes. He urged officers to maintain a strong street presence to deter criminal activity, while ensuring swift and effective action whenever incidents occur.
Reales also reminded personnel that every action and decision reflects directly on the credibility of the Philippine National Police, urging them to exercise sound judgment, protect public trust, and ensure their conduct does not put their careers or families at risk.*
