A 56-year-old quarry manager was shot dead by two unidentified suspects inside her store in a mountainous area of Brgy. Camansi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 20.
The victim was identified as Virginia Abustan, the manager of SPED X Quarry, and a resident of Hacienda Sta. Isabel in Brgy. Camansi.
A Kabankalan City Police Station report said the shooting happened at around 12:40 p.m. in Hacienda Sta. Isabel, about 13 kilometers from the police station.
Initial investigation showed that two suspects arrived at the victim’s store and pretended to buy items.
Police said when the victim attended to them, one of the suspects suddenly shot her in the left underarm and the back of the head.
The suspects fled on foot toward Sitio Makilo in Brgy. Camansi, the police said.
The victim was declared dead at the scene by a barangay midwife.
Police recovered seven fired cartridges, one slug, and one live ammunition, all believed to be for a .45 caliber firearm.*
