The Bacolod City prosecutor on Monday, March 4, approved the filing in court of slight physical injuries, other mischief and grave threat charges against a Bacolod businessman tagged by the police in a road rage incident.

Bacolod City Prosecutor Ma. Theresa Ditching approved the filing of the charges against Fidel Cachumbo Flores, 47, of Purok Villa Felicidad, Barangay Estefania Bacolod City.

The police filed the complaint against Flores before the prosecutor’s office for a “road rage” incident that resulted in the injury of two and damage to a Isuzu Hilander windshield at Burgos Extension, in front of East Lawn, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, at 12:03 p.m. on Saturday, March 2.

His victims were the Isuzu Hilander driver Mark Salapante Galario, 36, a glass installer, and his passenger Gerson Masanguid Bangkiling, 23, of Purok Arao, Barangay Estefania.

The Isuzu Hilander made a U- turn and Flores confronted the driver claiming his motorcycle had been hit, PCapt. Francis Depasucat, Police Station 4 chief, said.

During the confrontation Galario apologized but denied hitting the motorcycle. Flores then punched him in the face injuring his mouth, Depasucat said.

When the victims drove on the suspect who was waiting down the road smashed the windshield of their vehicle with a stone, Depasucat said.

Bangkiling’s left arm was injured during the stoning incident.

When the two passengers got out of their vehicle Flores chased them with a stick with a sharp end and threatened to kill them, Depasucat said.

Depasucat said Flores injured himself while he was hitting the windshield.

The police said further investigation revealed that the suspect had been involved in two other road rage incidents.

In one of the incidents caught on video last year, the suspect wielded a knife against a group of bikers in Talisay, the police said.

Flores appears to have anger management issues that need to be addressed, Depasucat said.*
