Progressive groups remember Gat Andres

Members of progressive groups in Negros Occidental trooped to the Fountain of Justice in Bacolod City today, November 30, to commemorate the 157th birthday of Gat Andres Bonifacio, Supremo of the Kataas-taasang Kagalang-galang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK).

The progressive groups led by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN)-Negros vowed to continue the revolutionary path of Bonifacio towards national democracy.

“This Duterte regime continues to be a blatant puppet of imperialist forces. Our sovereignty is endangered by this regime’s subservience to both the United States and China,” Bayan Negros said.

“It is clear that Duterte and his ilk have turned their backs on the Filipino people and they are spitting at the legacy of Bonifacio. Our economic policies and our laws only serve to deepen the grip of foreign interests on our nation,” it added.

They said “this regime also continues to be deaf at our demands for a more comprehensive approach toward the pandemic. Our economy has even plummeted toward the worst crisis in Philippine history since World War II. Until now, mass testing and financial aid have yet to be given to the masses.”

BAYAN-Negros said they will continue to embody Bonifacio’s revolutionary spirit by waging the national democratic struggle.

“We continue to call for national industrialization and genuine land reform. This regime must also answer for its criminal negligence amid this pandemic…the masses have ousted a dictator once, and Duterte will not be spared by the anger of the people,” they added.*
