The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region welcomed 279 newly appointed patrolmen and patrolwomen who took their oath of office in Bacolod City on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The recruits took their oath during the Oath-Taking and Turnover Ceremony under the 2026 Attrition and Regular Recruitment Program at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Grandstand in Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., Brgy. Estefania.
Of the 279 recruits, 168 were selected through the Attrition Recruitment Program, consisting of 136 men and 32 women.
Another 111 were recruited under the Regular Recruitment Program, composed of 97 men and 14 women.
Following their oath-taking, the recruits were turned over to the Negros Island Regional Training Center where they will undergo basic training in police procedures, skills, discipline and professional values.
PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales led the ceremony attended by police officials, members of the regional screening committee, personnel and families of the recruits.
Reales reminded the new recruits that their training should develop not only their skills as police officers but also their character and integrity.
He told them that rank does not make an unlawful order legitimate and urged them to refuse acts that violate the law, their oath or the rights of others.
He also urged the recruits to respect their training officers while maintaining their responsibility to report wrongdoing through proper channels.
The recruits will undergo professional formation before being deployed for police duties in the Negros Island Region.*
