PRO-NIR arrests 74 wanted persons, seizes P2.4 million in shabu

The  Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) arrested 74 wanted persons and confiscated more than P2.4 million in suspected shabu during a weeklong law enforcement campaign from June 8 to 14.

Data released by PRO-NIR showed that police units across the region arrested 21 most wanted persons and 53 other wanted persons through intensified manhunt operations.

The anti-illegal drug campaign also resulted in 45 operations that led to the arrest of 54 individuals and the confiscation of 355.89 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P2.42 million.

Meanwhile, 23 anti-illegal gambling operations resulted in the arrest of 63 individuals and the confiscation of P20,552 in bet money and gambling paraphernalia.

The PRO-NIR also conducted 26 operations against loose firearms, leading to the confiscation of 14 firearms, while another 14 firearms were voluntarily surrendered.

The regional police office likewise intensified the enforcement of local ordinances, conducting 5,819 operations that recorded 6,193 violators.

Of the total violators, 1,714 were fined while 4,105 were issued warnings.*
