Price monitoring and surprise sanitation inspections at the MassKara Festival sites will be conducted by the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation (BYF) and the City Health Office.

This came after Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez was informed that in some kiosks at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds chicken inasal with rice was selling at P180.

In other kiosks the rates were at P95 to P135.

Benitez directed the BYF to look into the matter and for sanitation inspections to be conducted.

He pointed out that the foundation had even lowered kiosks rentals this year.

Von Maungca, BYF Marketing, Promotions, and Interagency Concerns team leader, said a price ceiling was not stipulated in their agreement with the kiosks renters.

But they can call the attention of those charging exorbitant rates, he said.

The BYF along with City Health Office representatives Monday afternoon started inspecting the kiosks for proper food handling.

The Department of Public Services also assured that it was working 24-7 to ensure that garbage is removed from the festival sites.

Clearing of sidewalks would also be conducted.*
