The poultry and poultry products apprehended at Negros Occidental borders from March 1 to 18 have reached P7.6 million, Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said Friday, March 25.
Seized from March 12 to 18 were P533, 400 worth of products that included eggs, dressed chickens, balut, frozen poultry meat and chicken feet, the majority of which were shipped back to their points of origin.
The shipments from Cebu, Dumaguete, Quezon, Parañaque and Manila were seized in San Carlos City, Kabankalan City and at the Bacolod Silay Airport.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has ordered a temporary total ban on the entry of all live domestic and wild birds and their products into Negros Occidental as a deterrent against bird flu.*
