A policeman assigned at the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) died after his motorcycle crashed into a truck along the national highway in Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, early Saturday morning, Oct. 11.
The victim was identified as Pat. Jolu Otero, 28, of La Carlota City.
Otero was driving a gray motorcycle when he crashed into the rear of a truck traveling in the same direction toward Brgy. Abuanan at around 4:05 a.m., a police report said.
Responding officers from the Bago City Police Station reported that the truck involved did not stop and continued driving away from the scene.
Otero sustained serious injuries and was rushed by the Bago City Rescue Team to the Bago City Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Authorities are now conducting a follow-up investigation to identify and locate the truck and its driver.*
