The police welcomes other groups also conducting investigations into the killing of a call center agent in Bacolod City, PMaj. Nestor Bacuyag, Bacolod police spokesman, said Wednesday, May 3.

The United States and numerous other groups have condemned the killing of call center agent Alex Dolorosa, 35, an organizer of the BPO Industry Employees’ Network (BIEN), who was found dead with 15 stab wounds at Purok Villa Rosario, Barangay Alijis, on April 24.

The Bacolod police have yet to disclose the result of their investigation.

“We cannot give a statement on our initial investigation,” Bacuyag said at a press conference Wednesday.

The United States joins the Philippine government in condemning the brutal murder of Dolorosa, a trade union leader and LGBTQI+ activist in the Philippines, a US Department of State statement issued on April 30 said.

Dolorosa was a call center worker who became a paralegal and union leader with BIEN, an organization that helps call center workers exercise their rights and organize to improve their job conditions, it said.

“We welcome the Philippine government’s condemnation of the attack and its commitment to thoroughly investigate and to hold the perpetrators accountable. We join with the Philippine government in underscoring that impunity is unacceptable,” the statement said.*
