Police seize P442K in shabu, arrest 2 suspects in Bacolod

The Bacolod police seized ₱442,000 worth of suspected shabu and arrested two suspects in back-to-back operations Sunday evening, April 12.

The synchronized crackdown, led by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), resulted in the confiscation of 65 grams of the illegal substance, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) reported.

The first operation took place at 9:19 p.m. along Banahaw Street, Barangay Villamonte. City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) operatives , supported by the City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 4, arrested a 42-year-old suspect identified as alias “Bebe.”

Authorities launched the operation after a confidential informant reported “Bebe’s” alleged drug activities in several Bacolod barangays.

Surveillance confirmed the reports and revealed that the suspect had a prior drug-related arrest and was allegedly linked to theft incidents in the downtown area, the PRO NIR reported.

Recovered from the suspect were 40 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱272,000 and a .45 caliber pistol.

Less than two hours later, at 11:17 p.m., Police Station 2 operatives conducted a second buy-bust at Purok Narra Baybay, Barangay 8.

The operation led to the arrest of alias “Cli,” 21, a resident of Barangay 3. “Cli” was caught selling suspected shabu to an undercover officer.

Recovered items included six sachets of shabu weighing approximately 25 grams with a market value of ₱170,000, along with the buy-bust money and a coin purse.

The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and are currently in police custody.

They face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), while “Bebe” faces additional charges for illegal possession of a firearm.*
