Police conduct probe on source of fake vax card scheme

Policemen in Bacolod City are conducting a thorough investigation on who are behind the fake vaccination card scheme.

This after three individuals were arrested by the police in Barangay 24, Bacolod City, on January 17 for selling fake vaccination cards.

Maj. Ramel Sarona, Police Station 1 commander, said they recovered fake copies of the vaccination cards, a laptop and a printer from the suspects, who were charged for violation of Republic Act No. 11332 or falsification of public documents.

They are still determining who the source of the soft copy of the vaccination cards, and certificates, which look the same as the original ones, Sarona said.

One would not immediately think they are fake copies because they look really the same, but on a closer look it will be discovered that they have different vial control numbers, and the names of the nurses and doctors are wrong, he said.

The fake copies of vaccination cards and certificates are sold at P500 each, he added.

Sarona said that they also got a tip from a concerned citizen regarding the suspects’ illegal activity.

He warned the public not to buy copies of fake vaccination cards for the safety of everyone.*
