
The former policeman who was killed by five unidentified persons in Purok Michelle, Brgy. Dulao, Bago City, Negros Occidental, sustained about 10 gunshot wounds, the police reported on Friday, Feb. 28.
Lt.Col. Jay Malong, Bago City Police Chief, said they are looking at several motives for the killing Reynaldo Bernel on Thursday.
A personal grudge, business transaction, or the illegal drug trade are among the possible motives for the killing being investigated by the police.
The police are also searching for the victim’s gun, which was probably taken by the suspects.
Bernel, a former policeman, was working as a head guard of a chicken farm.
The victim came from the school of his child when five persons waylaid him and shot him multiple times causing his death, the police said.
The police recovered sixteen 5.56mm and six 9mm empty shells, and the motorcycle, handheld radio, and phone of the victim from the crime scene.*
