
The Police Regional Office-6 reported that the holidays and the New Year celebration in Western Visayas, including Negros Occidental, was generally peaceful.
Crimes were down by 28.24 percent in the last 15 days of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, it said.
PRO-6 said that there were no major incidents directly related to the New Year celebration.
Crime incidents from Dec.16, 2024 to Jan. 1, 2025 were at 907 about 28.24 percent lower compared to the same period in 2023 with 1,264 cases.
The eight focus crimes for the period logged 54 incidents from 176 incidents last year, a decrease of 122 incidents or 69.32 percent.
The eight focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicle, and carnapping of motorcycle.
