A farmer was beheaded by his relative in Purok 4, Sitio Catungawan, Brgy. Caliling, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28.
Romy Dahil-dahil, 56, a farmer of Brgy. Caliling, was hacked and killed by Kim Catague, the police reported.
The victim was queuing in front of a store when the suspect surreptitiously approached and hacked him, the police said.
Lt. Loreto Santillan Jr., Cauayan Deputy Police Chief, said the victim tried to enter the store to avoid the suspect. However, the suspect dragged the victim outside and hacked him until he was decapitated, he added.
When the suspect beheaded the victim, he placed the head near his foot and fled but was arrested in a police pursuit operation, Santillan said.
Santillan said that the family of the victim will file murder charges against the suspect.*
