PNP deploying 1,500 personnel across NIR for ‘Araw ng Kagitingan’

The Philippine National Police will deploy about 1,500 personnel across the Negros Island Region (NIR) to ensure the safe and orderly observance of Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on Thursday, April 9.

Policemen will be strategically positioned in key areas of convergence, including major thoroughfares, transportation hubs, public spaces, and the specific venues hosting commemorative activities, the Police Regional Office NIR said.

The security framework consists of fixed police visibility, motorcycle and mobile patrol units, and dedicated traffic assistance personnel, it said.

To further enhance coverage and deter potential threats, the PNP will also establish checkpoints and border control points throughout the region.

Specialized units, such as the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) contingents and the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF), have been placed on standby to respond to any contingencies, the PRO NIR said. To bolster ground operations, drone operators will provide aerial surveillance for real-time monitoring and improved situational awareness, it added.

PRO NIR has also strengthened its coordination with local government units, partner agencies, and other stakeholders .*
