PNP assures swift, impartial action vs. cop in Pulupandan shooting

The Police Regional Office-6 assured an in-depth, impartial, and swift investigation into the shooting incident involving a police officer in Purok Maligaya, Brgy. Canjusa, Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, on Christmas Day.

BGen. Jack Wanky, PRO-6 Director, said on Friday, Dec. 27, that a speedy pre-charge investigation will be conducted against the suspect for his immediate dismissal from the police service.

Joman Fuentes, 21, died while his father, Jomar, 52, was injured, after they were shot reportedly by PCpl Armen Alanza at about 4 a.m. on Dec. 25.

Alanza was assigned to the 604th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

“This is an isolated case. We do not tolerate and condone any wrong doings of any of our police officers”, Wanky said.

Those who are involved in crimes and illegal activities will be appropriately investigated and suffer the consequences of their action, he said.

The suspect and the firearm used are currently in the custody of Pulupandan Police Station.

Wanky also assured the family of the victims of the appropriate support from PRO-6.*
