Photos of scantily clad women appear on Capitol’s FB page

The Facebook page of the provincial government of Negros Occidental has been hacked and our IT personnel are working to recover control of the account, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Photos of scantily dressed foreign women appeared on the Facebook page of the provincial government early Tuesday morning.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said there were posts of women looking for boyfriends.

He said the Information and Communications Technology Division of the provincial government was in the process of regaining control of the FB page.

“They have experience on how to do that, I am confident we will be able to recover the FB page of the province of Negros Occidental,” he said.

Somebody got control of the FB page of the province illegally, Diaz said, adding that he hopes the can again resume posting official activities of the governor and the province on the page soon.

“This is the first time that our FB page was hacked and we are aware that it has been going on in some FB accounts of our LGUs. This is the first time for the province and we are equipped to resolve the matter,” he said.

“Hackers have a way of going around the system, so we just have to respond and again try to minimize situations that can happen again,” he said.

The provincial government’s Facebook page has 183,000 followers and 131,000 likes.*
