The mass oathtaking of new members of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) will not affect the coalition between the United Negros Alliance and Love Negros, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Wednesday, August 28.
More of a bigger problem is there are those who took their oaths as PFP members coming from opposing sides in several local government units, he said.
But that is a concern of the PFP leadership who will have to decide who among those who took their oaths will be issued certificates of candidacy for the 2025 polls, he said.
Among the areas with PFP members from opposing camps are Silay City, Talisay City and EB Magalona.
There were 210 politicians from the Negros Island Region who took their oaths as new members of PFP at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City on Monday.
Among the new PFP members are 14 mayors with nine from Negros Occidental.
Nationalist People’s Coalition members in Negros Occidental did not join PFP, said Lacson who belongs to NPC.
NPC and PFP already have an existing alliance, Lacson said.
Officials from the first and second districts of Negros Occidental were not at the mass oathtaking since they already belong to other national parties, Lacson added.*
