
The police have identified persons of interest in the shooting of a man and his 81-year-old mother in Sitio Lower Lauyan, Brgy. Dian-ay, Escalante City in Negros Occidental.
The police are investigating the incident but are giving the family time as the remains of the victims were brought to their hometown in Negros Oriental, Col. Rainerio De Chavez, Negros Occidental police director , said on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
“We are giving the family of the victim their privacy, but I already ordered the police chief to visit them and continue the investigation”, he said.
De Chavez said that they have already interviewed some witnesses and are looking at persons of interest, but they still need to gather more evidence to file a case against them.
“Virgilio”, 58, and his mother “Estelita”, 81, were shot dead while passing through a dark area of a sugarcane farm on Saturday, Feb. 15.*
