Three areas in San Carlos City, Negros Oriental, are being readied to serve as evacuation sites for residents of Canlaon City who will be displaced if Alert Level 4 is raised at Kanloan Volcano.

The three sites are an elementary school in Barangay Codcod, a 2-hectare lot in Barangay Prosperidad and a 3-hectare site in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos Mayor Renato Gustilo said on Tuesday, Feb . 18.

The Office of the Civil Defense earlier said it will send 300 tents to San Carlos City for the evacuees.

Gustilo said he believes San Carlos City residents would also house relatives from Canlaon City if Alert Level 4 is raised.

The mayor said he hopes assistance will be given for the food of the evacuees who will be brought to San Carlos City as the city government would not have enough resources for that.

Gustilo was at the Negros Occidental Capitol in Bacolod on Tuesday to pick up a P10 million check from the provincial government for the improvement of the city’s Sports Center Badminton Court.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson turned over the check to Gustilo.*
