The Philippine Coast Guard rescued a fastrcraft carrying 57 passengers after it reported a rudder malfunction near the anchorage area of the BREDCO Port in Bacolod City on Friday, Aug. 23.
Rescued by the PCG-Negros Occidental was the MV Weesam 6 bound for Bacolod.
During their operations all 57 passengers of the fastcraft were docked and secured at the BREDCO Port, the PCG reported.
In November last year, the same fastcraft, carrying 172 passengers, was also rescued by PCG at sea for an engine failure distress.
Negros Occidental PCG Commander Jansen Benjamin said that it is the Maritime Industry Authority that is responsible for determining the seaworthiness of vessels.
The seaworthiness of a marine vessel depends on the severity of derangement, Benjamin added.*
