The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry named Bacolod City one of the Top 5 finalists for the Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit Awards (City Level 1B) on Monday, Sept. 23.

The PCCI special recognition cites Bacolod City for “exemplifying commendable initiatives towards good governance reforms that promote trade and investments and significantly contribute to local economic development”.

Bacolod City Administrator Dr. Lucille Gelvolea received recognition on behalf of the city at rites at the PCCI Office in Taguig City.

The winner among the top five will be announced in mid-October, Gelvolea said.

The cities in the top five aside from Bacolod are Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo and Mandaue.

Among 17 highly urbanized cities (HUCs) outside NCR, 11 participated in the PCCI’s Search for the Most Business-Friendly LGU.

Joining Gelvolea at the event were City Treasurer Arlene Memoria, Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion head Dr. Mae Llamas, and Business Permits and Licensing Office head Stella Rayos.*
