Archbishop Charles John Brown, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, arrived in Bacolod City Thursday, Nov. 23, to show his support for the Basic Ecclesiastical Communities (BEC) of the Roman Catholic Church.
He presided over the closing Eucharistic Celebration of the 5th BEC National Assembly 2023 in the Diocese of Bacolod.
“I’m in Bacolod to show my support for the BECS here in the Philippines because it’s a way in which the Church can be present on the local level…showing the love of God to the people on a very, very close level”, the Apostolic Nuncio said.
The Negros Occidental provincial government employees waving yellow and white flaglets enthusiastically welcomed the Apostolic Nuncio during his visit to the Capitol in Bacolod to meet with Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson.
He also visited Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Benitez said he was happy to welcome the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps to his office.
“I was able to share with him the progress Bacolod has made, and I’m deeply honored to receive his blessings for our beloved city,” Benitez said.*
